Focus areas
Scientifically grounded support for the concerns people most often bring to me.
What it is
Eating that is set off not by physical hunger but by feelings such as stress, boredom or inner emptiness. As a short term way to regulate emotion it creates a cycle of tension, eating and shame that hardens over time.
Approach
Together we look, without judgement, at the moments when reaching for food begins. Mindfulness-based and emotion-focused approaches help you tell physical from emotional hunger apart, notice triggers early and gradually build steady ways to look after yourself. If an eating disorder is suspected, I support you in finding suitable medical or psychotherapeutic help.
What it is
Phases of low mood in which drive and interest fade and negative thoughts weigh on daily life, sleep and self worth. Such phases are never a matter of personal weakness.
Approach
You are supported at your own pace, with no pressure. In counselling based on behavioural-therapy approaches we make heavy thought patterns visible, gently rebuild activity and bring stabilising routines back into everyday life. If depression is suspected, I support you in finding medical or psychotherapeutic treatment.
What it is
An unstable or negative self image marked by self criticism, fear of failure and the sense of not being enough. It is often both a root and an amplifier of other struggles.
Approach
In a safe space we work on the internalised judgements that keep you small. Self-compassionate and resource-oriented approaches strengthen a kinder inner stance and a sense of self that can hold difficult moments too. Should a deeper-lying condition emerge, I help you find suitable treatment.
What it is
Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, or sleep that does not restore, lowers concentration, mood and resilience. Rumination, tension and unhelpful habits often keep it going.
Approach
We work in a targeted way on sleep habits, evening routines and a calmer way of handling night time rumination, so that sleep can feel natural again. If there are signs of a sleep disorder requiring treatment, I additionally recommend a medical assessment.
What it is
Persistent worry about everyday matters, accompanied by tension and inner restlessness, can become a permanent state and drain a great deal of energy.
Approach
You learn to meet the worry spiral differently. In counselling we practise everyday strategies for handling worry and uncertainty, so that they no longer run the day. If an anxiety disorder is suspected, I support you in finding psychotherapeutic help.
What it is
Ongoing overload without enough recovery, which can lead to exhaustion, irritability and physical complaints.
Approach
Together we look at where your energy drains away. Stress management, mindfulness and work on boundaries and inner drivers create lasting room for recovery and a healthier, kinder relationship with strain. With persistent exhaustion, a medical assessment is the right first step.
What it is
When alcohol regularly serves to cope with inner tension, drinking can gradually take up more room than is good for you.
Approach
Without blame we clarify together what the drinking does for you, strengthen your motivation to change and build alternatives that work in daily life. In the case of a dependence condition, I support you in finding medical or addiction-medicine support.
What it is
Smoking is often closely tied to habits and feelings. Many people want to quit and experience how hard letting go is in everyday life.
Approach
We find out which triggers and routines keep the smoking going, build concrete strategies for handling craving and shape your path to quitting in a structured way and without pressure. Complementary medical support can make the path easier still.
